SPORTFIVE's latest Women's Network event brought colleagues together for an open and informative discussion on women's health, with a focus on menstrual health, fertility and menopause.
Through expert insights from Dr Nadia Amokrane and personal perspectives from colleagues, the session aimed to increase awareness, challenge misconceptions and encourage meaningful conversation around topics that can often be difficult to discuss in the workplace.
In this Insight:
Women's health is something that affects many people throughout their lives, yet it can often feel like a difficult topic to discuss, particularly in the workplace.
As part of SPORTFIVE's ongoing commitment to wellbeing, inclusion and education, our latest Women's Network event brought colleagues together for an open and informative discussion on women's health and the experiences many women navigate at different stages of life.
Women's health challenges can have a significant impact on wellbeing, confidence and day-to-day experiences in the workplace. Increasing awareness and understanding is therefore essential, not only for those directly affected, but also for colleagues and managers who play a role in creating a supportive environment.
By creating space for these conversations, we can help reduce stigma, encourage understanding and ensure colleagues feel supported when navigating health issues that may affect both their personal and professional lives.
Putting Women's Health in Focus
While health and wellbeing are important for everyone, women's health can be been less visible and less understood in workplace conversations. Many women will experience challenges such as menstrual health issues, fertility treatment, pregnancy loss, endometriosis or menopause during their careers, yet these topics are often not openly discussed.
Our recent Women’s Network event was led by Dr Nadia Amokrane, consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist and passionate advocate for women's health, who is committed to making trusted, evidence-based health information more accessible to all.
The event reflected this as it covered themes of periods, hormonal health, fertility, and menopause. Giving trusted health information and advice for all stages of life.
"This was such a special event. I felt incredibly proud of everyone who opened up, shared their experiences and created such a supportive and safe environment for others to do the same. It was a powerful reminder of why the Women’s Network matters and left me feeling genuinely emotional and proud of the community we’ve built at SPORTFIVE.”

Why These Conversations Matter
These discussions can create greater empathy and equip managers with a better understanding of the challenges their team members may experience, enabling them to provide appropriate support and contribute to a more inclusive workplace culture.
They can also give employees greater confidence to approach their managers, having already been part of an open and supportive environment where personal and sensitive topics are discussed with understanding and respect.
Ultimately, it is important that everyone across the business understands that women's health issues can have a significant impact on an individual's wellbeing, both personally and professionally. By promoting a culture where these conversations are welcomed and supported, we can help ensure colleagues feel understood, valued and able to access the support they need. In turn, this contributes to a more inclusive, supportive and successful workplace for everyone.
Continuing the Conversation
Our Women's Network continues to create opportunities for colleagues to connect, learn and support one another through meaningful and relevant discussions. By opening up conversations around topics that can often feel difficult to discuss, we can continue building a workplace where people feel informed, understood and empowered.
As the network continues to grow, so too does the opportunity to explore important topics that resonate with our employees. We will continue to gather feedback to shape future events, ensuring they remain relevant, impactful and valuable, and we look forward to continuing these conversations.
