Sustainability & social responsibility at FCK

For 125 years, ‘The Heart of the Pfalz region’ has been beating high up on the Betzenberg in Kaiserslautern, where 1. FC Kaiserslautern plays its matches. FCK stands for solidarity, regional pride and responsibility. The club is committed to a future in which everyone becomes stronger together and the quality of life is improved for everyone.

Sustainability is currently one of the most important topics for today's society and sustainable action is one of the most important challenges for the future. FC Kaiserslautern also sees itself as part of society and is confronted with the indispensable task of acting sustainably. For this reason, the topic of sustainability is already anchored in the rules of procedure of 1. FC Kaiserslautern GmbH & Co. KGaA, and FCK expects its employees as well as its suppliers and partners to act sustainably.

The ‘Walter-Elf’ around the Walter brothers and above all around the honorary captain of the German national team, Fritz Walter, not only shaped the football of the FCK or the world champion team of 1954 through their unique successes, they also stood for elementary values such as humility, honesty, charity, respect and social responsibility. This is also set out in a code of conduct.

FC Kaiserslautern is part of a large community and would like to contribute to enabling all people worldwide to live in dignity while at the same time preserving the natural foundations of life for future generations. This includes economic, ecological and social aspects.

Not least since the great social commitment of former FCK President Norbert Thines, the commitment to those who need help has been one of the core values of the FCK family. The club, its fans and fan clubs have been supporting social projects for decades. Not only in the region, but also across borders. For example, FCK fans organised aid convoys to Belarus and Bulgaria back in the 1990s. It is therefore very important for 1. FC Kaiserslautern to support fans, members and employees in social campaigns, for example through a free ticket contingent for the fan advisory board for social organisations or through media distribution and use of the club media to draw attention to social campaigns.

In addition to supporting the social projects of fans, members and employees, FCK's own social commitment is one of its most important tasks. Various social campaigns are bundled under the ‘Betze-Engel’ social project. Seven regional charitable organisations such as the SOS Children's Village Palatinate, the Kaiserslautern Emergency Relief Fund and Lebenshilfe Bad Dürkheim e.V. receive long-term support and visibility as a result.

Furthermore, the ‘Betze-Engel vor Ort’ also provide support for acute enquiries and can thus support numerous larger and smaller projects together with FCK fans.

1. FC Kaiserslautern is committed to an open and diverse society and promotes equal opportunities, anti-discrimination and inclusion. The club organises events, inclusive football tournaments and special offers for people with disabilities in order to reduce discrimination and support minorities. FCK also regularly takes a stand against racism and discrimination and excludes people who do not share these values. The aim is to create a safe environment for all fans and to overcome prejudices. For example, there are regular events on the topic of discrimination and anti-discriminatory and integrative fans and fan clubs as well as projects are supported.

Education plays a decisive role in a future worth living, as it provides the necessary knowledge, skills and values to shape one's own life for the future, to better cope with social challenges and to actively participate in sustainable development.

Every year, a large training fair is organised at the Fritz Walter Stadium together with the employment agency. The association also works with the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Education and supports the ‘Become an educator in Rhineland-Palatinate’ campaign.

FCK has hundreds of thousands of loyal fans in Germany and is of great socio-political importance for the city of Kaiserslautern and the whole of Rhineland-Palatinate. It is a special honour for us to be able to support this unique traditional club on its way to the top
